Afghanistan, Sept. 11 -- Pakistan's army said security forces killed 19 militants in strikes on hideouts near the Afghanistan's border, amid escalating violence blamed on Pakistani Taliban fighters.

The Pakistani military said its security forces killed 19 militants during operations targeting three hideouts in the country's northwest near the Afghanistan's border over the past two days.

According to the army's statement on Thursday, September 11, fourteen fighters were killed in Mohmand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while five others were killed in North Waziristan and Bannu.

The army described the insurgents as "Khawarij," a term often used by Islamabad to refer to members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
