Afghanistan, Nov. 8 -- The third round of Pakistan-Afghanistan peace talks in Istanbul ended without progress, as both sides failed to agree on cross-border security mechanisms.
The third round of peace negotiations between Pakistan and Taliban authorities aimed at building a joint mechanism for cross-border security and counterterrorism has once again ended without results in Istanbul, Turkey.
Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Friday that the talks had been suspended after reaching a deadlock, adding that there were no immediate plans to resume dialogue.
He acknowledged that despite several attempts, both sides remained divided on key issues related to cross-border violence and mutual security arrangements.
