Afghanistan, April 27 -- A special anti-terrorism court in the Punjab province of Pakistan has sentenced the assailant who attacked former Prime Minister Imran Khan to life imprisonment and imposed a monetary fine.

The Special Anti-Terrorism Court in Gujranwala, located in Pakistan's Punjab province, announced on Saturday that the individual responsible for the assassination attempt against Imran Khan has been sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of 500,000 Pakistani rupees.

The incident took place in 2022, during a protest rally against the then-government, when Imran Khan was delivering a speech in Wazirabad, Punjab. The attacker opened fire on Khan, injuring him in the leg and causing immediate chaos at the event. ...
