Afghanistan, March 9 -- Recent deadly clashes in Syria, which began on Thursday, have resulted in one of the bloodiest periods of violence in the country's 14-year conflict. According to the Syrian Human Rights Observatory, over 1,000 people have been killed in just two days of fighting.
