Afghanistan, Aug. 24 -- A new study finds air pollution from oil and gas causes over 90,000 premature deaths annually in the U.S., disproportionately affecting communities of color.
A new study by University College London and the Stockholm Environment Institute shows that air pollution from oil and gas production causes over 90,000 premature deaths in the United States each year, along with hundreds of thousands of related illnesses. The research also connects fossil fuel emissions to more than 10,000 preterm births, 216,000 cases of childhood asthma, and 1,610 lifetime cancer diagnoses annually. Communities of color are disproportionately affected by these impacts.
