Afghanistan, Oct. 16 -- Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg says the current peace negotiations "offers the best chance" for peace in Afghanistan, but the Taliban "must keep their promise" and deescalate ongoing offensive throughout the country.

In a meeting with United States Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad in Doha Thursday, Stoltenberg assured NATO's support to ongoing peace process and stability in the country.

"The Doha talks offer the best chance for peace, but Taliban must keep their promises and reduce the unacceptable level of violence," he said in a tweet. "#NATO remains committed to #Afghanistan's security."
