Afghanistan, Feb. 4 -- Doctors Without Borders warns mothers and newborns in Afghanistan's Khost province face serious health risks due to limited access to specialized medical services.

Doctors Without Borders, also known as MSF, reported that mothers and newborn babies in Khost province are facing severe shortages of essential healthcare services and facilities.

The organization said its medical teams supported 21,805 deliveries in healthcare facilities across Khost during 2025, reflecting growing demand for maternal healthcare services.

During the same period, 1,834 newborn babies with critical health conditions required treatment in neonatal intensive care units due to life-threatening complications after birth.
