Afghanistan, Oct. 13 -- Afghan political analyst and media commentator Saleem Paigir was seriously wounded in a shooting in Kabul last week, officials said on Sunday, as an investigation continues into the motive behind the attack.

Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Qani said it was not yet clear whether the shooting was politically or personally motivated. He added that Paigir was receiving medical care in Kabul and could be transferred abroad for further treatment if required.

Paigir was shot on Thursday near the Hanzala Mosque in Kabul's 10th district by two men who had introduced themselves as "returnees from Canada." The assailants opened fire as they were leaving after meeting him.
