The match, played at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez Stadium, remained goalless until the 80th minute when Mbappe calmly finished to score his tenth goal in nine league games this season.
Getafe's discipline faltered in the second half. Substitute Allan Nyom was shown a red card just a minute after coming onto the field, while Alex Sanchez was sent off late in the game after receiving a second yellow.
