Afghanistan, Aug. 9 -- A UN official warns that many Afghans returning from neighbouring countries have no homes, urging urgent shelter, basic services, and livelihood support to ensure their safety and dignity.

More than four million Afghans have returned from Iran and Pakistan since September 2023, including over one million so far in 2025, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Aid agencies warn that this rapid influx is overwhelming Afghanistan's already fragile infrastructure.
