Afghanistan, Jan. 31 -- Swedish media have reported that an Iraqi refugee, who was set to stand trial for burning the Quran, was murdered before the verdict was issued.

SVT television network on Wednesday, January 29 reported, citing police sources, that 38-year-old Selwan Momika was shot in a house in the town of Sodertalje, near Stockholm.

Swedish police confirmed on their website that the Iraqi refugee had been killed, and five individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.

In 2023, Selwan Momika sparked global controversy during protests against Islamic teachings by burning copies of the Quran, the holy book of Muslims.
