Afghanistan, Oct. 7 -- London police arrested 18 suspects, including two Afghans, for smuggling over 40,000 stolen phones to China in the UK's largest mobile theft crackdown.
London's Metropolitan Police have arrested 18 people in what they describe as the UK's largest-ever crackdown on mobile phone theft. The gang is accused of trafficking more than 40,000 stolen phones from Britain to China through a sophisticated smuggling network.
According to police, more than 2,000 stolen phones were recovered during the raids, which targeted warehouses and homes across London. Among those arrested are two Afghan nationals charged with handling and concealing stolen goods, as well as assisting in the illegal export of mobile devices.
