Afghanistan, Nov. 26 -- Kabul and Tehran have intensified talks on expanding Afghanistan's use of Iran's Chabahar Port as prolonged Pakistan border closures continue to disrupt regional trade flows.

Taliban Commerce Minister Nooruddin Azizi and Iran's Industry and Trade Minister Mohammad Atabak have discussed expanding Afghanistan's use of Chabahar Port, as tensions with Pakistan continue to disrupt Kabul's main trade routes.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the ECO summit in Turkey on Wednesday, focused on accelerating technical and operational coordination to better utilize the port's transit capacity. Both sides described Chabahar as a more reliable channel for Afghanistan's imports and exports.
