Afghanistan, Dec. 3 -- Kabul and Islamabad representatives have held new talks in Saudi Arabia, seeking to calm border tensions and continue ceasefire discussions.

Representatives from the Taliban and Pakistan met in Saudi Arabia in an attempt to ease rising tensions along the border, officials told Reuters. Three Afghan and two Pakistani officials confirmed the meeting, saying both sides agreed to keep a temporary ceasefire in place and continue talks.

Earlier negotiations held in Qatar and Turkey failed to reach a breakthrough, making the Saudi meeting the latest effort to prevent further clashes. Relations between the two sides have worsened in recent months as cross-border attacks and security concerns increased.
