Afghanistan, Oct. 29 -- Israeli airstrikes killed 26 Palestinians in Gaza, officials said, as Israel and Hamas traded accusations of violating the fragile ceasefire in place since October.
Israeli airstrikes on Gaza killed at least 26 Palestinians on Wednesday, Gaza health officials said, marking the most serious escalation since the U.S.-backed ceasefire came into force on October 10. Both Israel and Hamas accuse each other of jeopardising the fragile truce.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered new "powerful strikes" after the Israeli military said its forces came under fire in Rafah, in southern Gaza. Hamas denied involvement in the shooting and said Israel was responsible for provoking renewed violence.
