Afghanistan, March 2 -- Benjamin Netanyahu's office, the Prime Minister of Israel, has announced that the country has agreed to the U.S. proposal for a temporary ceasefire in Gaza.

Reuters reported on Sunday, March 2, that Israel accepted the proposal by Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump's envoy, for a temporary ceasefire during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

Under this agreement, on the first day of the ceasefire, half of the hostages held in Gaza, both dead and alive, will be released. The remaining hostages will be freed after a permanent ceasefire agreement.

Netanyahu's office stated that Witkoff suggested extending the temporary ceasefire after realizing more time was needed to discuss a permanent ceasefire agreement.
