Afghanistan, Feb. 8 -- Islamuddin Amiri, a former defender and skipper of the Afghanistan national football team, has retired from national and club competitions after 20 years on the football field.
The well-known player of the national team shared a message on his Facebook page on Friday, February 7 announcing that he will continue his football career as a coach moving forward.
He emphasized that he has ultimately decided to end his playing career.
Amiri joined the Afghanistan national team in 2005 and, according to official statistics, played 63 games for the national team.
