Afghanistan, June 28 -- Ireland has become the first EU country to ban trade with Israeli settlements, aiming to uphold international law and protest human rights violations.

Ireland has become the first European Union country to propose legislation banning trade with Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The new bill aims to sever economic ties with areas considered illegal under international law.

According to The Irish Post on June 27, 2025, the legislation-titled the Israeli Settlements (Prohibition of Importation of Goods) Bill 2025-has been approved by the Irish Cabinet and is set to undergo pre-legislative scrutiny in the Oireachtas committee.
