Afghanistan, Oct. 9 -- Iranian dissident Rustam Ejbari was critically wounded after being shot by unidentified gunmen in Herat, Afghanistan, in what activists called a targeted attack.
Unidentified gunmen shot and critically wounded Iranian dissident Rustam Ejbari in the western Afghanistan's city of Herat on Wednesday, human rights group Halvash reported. The attack took place in one of the city's central districts, and no group has yet claimed responsibility.
According to Halvash, Ejbari was struck twice in the head and rushed to hospital, where doctors described his condition as critical. Local authorities have not commented publicly on the incident, but an investigation is reportedly underway.
