Afghanistan, Feb. 1 -- The Iranian human rights organization known as Hengaw has reported a 17.5% increase in executions in Iran in January compared to the same month last year. It added that at least 87 prisoners, including Afghan citizens, were executed by the Islamic Republic in the past month.
The organization reported on Saturday, February 1, 2025, that at least 87 prisoners, including eight Afghan nationals, were executed in January 2025 by the Iranian government.
The report stated that among those executed, 17 Kurdish prisoners, 10 Lur prisoners, and 4 Baluch prisoners were included, though the government has only officially confirmed three of these cases.
