Afghanistan, Dec. 25 -- Iran has executed an Afghanistan citizen, Nazir, raising international concerns over capital punishment, human rights, and the treatment of foreign prisoners in Iranian jails.

Iran has executed 12 prisoners, including an Afghanistan national, across several facilities in the country, according to human rights organisation Hengaw.

Hengaw reported on Wednesday, December 24, that the executions were carried out in prisons located in Karaj, Rasht, Bushehr, Shahrekord, Sabzevar, Kashmar, Malayer, and Shiraz.

The Afghanistan citizen, identified as Nazir, was executed at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. According to Hengaw, the prisoners had been sentenced to death on charges including "intentional murder" and "drug-related cr...
