Afghanistan, Oct. 27 -- Six Afghans living in India on forged documents will be deported, police say, after overstaying medical visas and working illegally under fake Indian identities.

Indian authorities have detained six Afghan nationals for residing in the country using forged Indian identity papers and expired visas, officials told local media. The individuals are expected to be deported to Afghanistan on Tuesday.

According to a report by the Indian Express on Monday, the group entered India on medical visas between 2015 and 2019 but remained illegally after their permits expired. Police later discovered they had produced counterfeit identification to stay and work in the country.
