Afghanistan, Dec. 20 -- A house roof collapsed in Kandahar, southern Afghanistan, killing a woman and two children, highlighting dangers of substandard housing amid harsh winter and widespread poverty.

A tragic incident in Kandahar province has claimed the lives of a woman and her two children after the roof of their home collapsed due to heavy rainfall. The collapse occurred in the Domandoy Barma area of Khakrez district, officials said.

Abdulsalam Omari, head of the Taliban's Natural Disaster Preparedness Office, confirmed the deaths on Saturday, December 20, and stressed that non-standard housing often increases the risk of fatalities during severe weather.
