Afghanistan, Jan. 6 -- Greenland's prime minister said citizens should not fear a U.S. takeover, even as President Donald Trump renews interest in the strategic Arctic island.
Greenland is seeking closer ties with the United States, but its people should not fear an imminent American takeover, Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said, Reuters reported on Monday, January 5.
Speaking at a press conference in the capital Nuuk, Nielsen stressed that Greenland is a democratic society and cannot be compared to Venezuela, after U.S. President Donald Trump renewed calls for Washington to take control of the Arctic island.
