Afghanistan, Aug. 15 -- Germany is in talks with Pakistan to stop the deportation of Afghans eligible for asylum, seeking urgent solutions as Islamabad accelerates removals ahead of September.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has confirmed that Berlin is reviewing the cases of Afghans in Pakistan who are awaiting relocation to Germany, as Islamabad accelerates the deportation of Afghan migrants.

At a press conference on Thursday, August 14, Dobrindt said some Afghans enrolled in Germany's resettlement programme have "recently drawn the attention of Pakistani authorities," prompting direct discussions between the two governments.
