Afghanistan, Dec. 6 -- Three people were killed in an explosion in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province on Saturday.
Local Taliban officials confirmed that the blast occurred in the Ghazi area of Kama district on Saturday afternoon.
According to the provincial security office, the explosion happened while workers were hammering and dismantling metal scrap, unaware that one piece contained live explosives. All three victims were killed instantly, and authorities have not released their identities.
The region remains heavily contaminated with unexploded ordnance from decades of conflict, making scrap-collecting a dangerous but common livelihood.
