Afghanistan, Jan. 22 -- The European Commission announced a €126 million humanitarian aid package for Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran in 2026 amid worsening global crises.
The European Commission said on Wednesday that the funding forms part of a wider €1.9 billion package allocated to address major humanitarian emergencies worldwide.
According to the commission, the decision comes as an estimated 239 million people globally are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
European officials warned that escalating conflicts, climate-related disasters and economic shocks have placed unprecedented strain on the international aid system.
