Munich International Airport, Germany's second-busiest air hub after Frankfurt, was forced to suspend operations on Thursday night after drones were detected near its runway.
The disruption, which began at 10:18 p.m., lasted several hours and caused widespread travel chaos. Authorities confirmed that 17 flights were cancelled and about 15 incoming planes had to be diverted to nearby cities including Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Vienna, and Frankfurt.
