Afghanistan, Oct. 25 -- The CSTO held major counterterrorism drills in Tajikistan with 1,500 troops, responding to heightened regional security concerns linked to militant threats from Afghanistan.

The Collective Security Treaty Organization has held joint military exercises in Tajikistan focused on counterterrorism operations and rapid response coordination. The drills included simulated hostage rescues and neutralisation of armed militant groups.

Around 1,500 troops from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan took part in the exercises, which featured more than 200 units of military equipment, including helicopters and drones. The drills were codenamed "Indestructible Brotherhood-2025" and "Barrier-2025."
