Afghanistan, Jan. 14 -- China said it supports Iran's efforts to maintain stability, opposing U.S. threats, sanctions and tariff pressure amid ongoing protests and rising regional tensions.

China said on Wednesday it hopes Iran can maintain stability amid ongoing protests, stressing Beijing's support for Tehran as unrest and international pressure continue to mount.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told a regular news briefing that China supports Iran's efforts to safeguard stability, adding that Beijing opposes interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
