Afghanistan, Nov. 4 -- China expressed sympathy to victims of the deadly earthquakes in Balkh and Samangan that killed at least 27 people and injured hundreds.

At least 27 people were killed and more than 600 injured after powerful earthquakes devastated parts of Afghanistan's Balkh, Samangan, and Baghlan provinces.

China's Ambassador to Afghanistan, Zhao Xing, on Tuesday expressed condolences to the victims, saying Beijing was deeply saddened by the destruction and loss of life.

Japan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and several international organizations also offered sympathy and called for urgent humanitarian assistance to affected Afghanistan communities.
