Afghanistan, Jan. 28 -- Foreign media have reported that Indian and Chinese authorities have agreed to resume direct flights between China and India after a five-year hiatus.

According to a statement by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Vikram Misri, India's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Sun Weidong, China's Deputy Foreign Minister, on Monday, January 27, in Beijing.

During the meeting, both sides reached an agreement to resume direct flights, which were suspended nearly five years ago.

Additionally, both parties agreed that Indian pilgrims would be allowed to visit the Kailash region in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
