Afghanistan, Sept. 16 -- Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Ottawa will recognise Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in September, reaffirming support for a two-state solution.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Ottawa plans to formally recognise the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly in September.

Carney, speaking on Monday after a virtual Middle East summit chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, said recognition will be conditional on reforms within the Palestinian Authority, 2026 elections without Hamas, and the disarmament of Palestinian security forces.
