Afghanistan, Oct. 21 -- Austria deported a 31-year-old Afghan convict to Kabul, marking its first such expulsion in years, with more deportations reportedly planned soon.

Austria has deported an Afghan national convicted of violent crimes, marking the first such deportation to Afghanistan since the Taliban regained power in 2021, Austrian media reported.

The 31-year-old man, who had been convicted of rape and causing bodily harm, was flown to Kabul on Tuesday after serving four years in an Austrian prison.
