Afghanistan, Feb. 3 -- Australia has imposed new sanctions on 20 Iranian individuals and three entities in response to the violent suppression of protests in Iran, the foreign ministry announced Tuesday.
Canberra said the sanctions target senior officials and organizations linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guard accused of involvement in domestic repression and threats against individuals inside and outside Iran.
The move expands Australia's broader sanctions framework against Iran and follows earlier decisions aimed at increasing pressure over human rights abuses and regional destabilization activities.
