Afghanistan, Jan. 13 -- According to the reports, at least seven prisoners broke out the central jail in Paktya and fled away on Sunday evening, officials confirmed.

Abdullah Hasrat, a provincial spokesperson said seven prisoners have fled from Pakitya's central jail in Gardez city.

"Prisoners who fled from the jail had been convicted for different crimes", Abdullah said.

It is still unclear how the prisoners have managed to break the detention center and also not clear who might have assisted them getting out of the prison, Abdullah added.

According to Abdullah, the local authorities in Paktya have formed an emergency meeting to discuss the issue and have also appointed a delegation to investigate the issue.
