Afghanistan, March 5 -- Mehriyeh Ashofteh, an Afghan-German woman, has successfully entered the Hamburg State Parliament. She was the candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the recent Hamburg parliamentary elections.
Ashofteh secured more than 9,000 votes and became a member of the Hamburg State Parliament following the elections held on Sunday, March 2.
In a message on her Instagram page, she shared that her close ones had known about her success in entering the parliament before the public announcement. However, she personally refrained from making any predictions during the day of the election.
