Afghanistan, Nov. 3 -- At least 800 homes were destroyed after a powerful earthquake struck Badakhshan province in northern Afghanistan, killing over 20 people and injuring hundreds.
Sources in Badakhshan province say that around 800 houses in the village of Chogani, Shahr-e Bozorg district, were heavily damaged or destroyed in a 6.3-magnitude earthquake and its subsequent aftershocks.
Residents report the quake began two days earlier, followed by several strong aftershocks. Many homes collapsed in the remote mountainous area, leaving families stranded and vulnerable.
