Afghanistan, Feb. 24 -- The 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council began today, Monday, February 24, in Geneva.
Nasir Ahmad Andisha, Afghanistan's representative in Geneva, says that efforts are being made to establish an independent accountability mechanism for Afghanistan within the framework of the UN Human Rights Council.
He expressed hope that by the end of this year, an independent accountability mechanism for Afghanistan would be created within the UN Human Rights Council.
During the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, Richard Bennett, the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights for Afghanistan, is also scheduled to present his latest report.
