Afghanistan, Jan. 31 -- Following the arrest of Afghan migrants in Iran, 520 migrants from the Mazandaran province have been detained.

Abdullah Hassanzadeh, the police commander of Sari district in Mazandaran province, Iran, announced on Friday, January 31 that security forces have arrested 520 migrants without residence permits.

Iranian media reported that Hassanzadeh has urged Iranian citizens to avoid employing unauthorized foreign nationals in various jobs.

According to United Nations data, the forced deportation of Afghan nationals has dramatically increased since September, with thousands being detained and forcibly returned to their home country daily by Iranian police.
