Afghanistan, Aug. 2 -- A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Afghanistan late Friday night, rattling parts of Takhar province and nearby regions, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre has reported.
The quake struck at around 1:03 a.m. local time, with its epicenter located 94 kilometers southeast of Taloqan, the capital of Takhar province. It originated at a depth of 114 kilometers beneath the earth's surface.
Residents in several districts, including Farkhar, reported feeling tremors, though early assessments suggest the shaking was mild and no major casualties or significant damage have been confirmed.
