Afghanistan, June 1 -- A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Afghanistan near Kunduz, shaking nearby areas with no reported casualties or damage.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) has reported a moderate earthquake in northeastern Afghanistan. The earthquake struck around 12:50 AM local time on Saturday, May 31, affecting parts of Takhar and Kunduz provinces, as well as areas bordering Tajikistan.
The quake registered a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located in the Dasht Archi district of Kunduz province, approximately 28 kilometers from the city of Taloqan. According to the EMSC, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 42 kilometers beneath the surface.
