Afghanistan, Feb. 11 -- The National Statistics and Information Authority reports that for the first time this year, a cotton survey was conducted across 15 provinces of the country, which revealed a total production of 159,000 metric tons of cotton.

This department announced on Monday, February 10 that through the use of remote sensing technology, which includes the interpretation of satellite images, the cotton-growing areas in the country were identified. Based on this, a total of 105,000 hectares of land were planted with cotton.

According to the report, cotton was cultivated in 17 provinces this year, showing a 12% increase in cotton cultivation compared to the previous year.
