Afghanistan, May 29 -- A plane carrying 220 Mauritanian pilgrims crashed into the Red Sea, killing all on board. Rescue teams are investigating.
A passenger plane transporting Mauritanian pilgrims en route to Saudi Arabia has crashed in the Red Sea under unknown circumstances.
The aircraft was flying from Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, to Saudi Arabia when it disappeared from radar and lost contact with air traffic control.
Initial reports indicate that all 220 passengers and crew on board have perished. No distress signals or communication were received from the pilot before the crash.
