Afghanistan, Feb. 13 -- The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) reported that 2024 was the deadliest year for journalists in nearly three decades. According to the report, 124 journalists and media workers were killed globally last year.

Israel was identified as responsible for 70% of these journalist deaths. The committee's report, published on Wednesday, February 12, reveals that 82 journalists were killed in Gaza, with three more in Lebanon due to Israeli attacks.

The Israel-Gaza war has taken a heavy toll on the press, with 85 journalists and media workers killed in 2024 and 78 in 2023. These killings highlight the growing dangers for reporters and the threat to global information flow.
