SOPORE, Sept. 30 -- Scores of traders on Monday held a protest demonstration in Asia's second largest fruit mandi in apple town Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district against halting of supply trucks on Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

According to news gathering agency, KNS, the protesters were demanding smooth movement of vehicles on Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

They were holding placards and banners carrying messages like "Save fruit industry", "Save Growers", "Open N/H-44 24 Hours for fruit ladder trucks", M.I.S Chalo Karo" etc.

The aggrieved protesters expressed serious concern over the recent announcement of package by Lt Governor in which he dropped this sector.
