The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Centre and the State Governments for the hospitals to observe a minimum standard of healthcare as prescribed under the Clinical Establishment Act, 2010 (CEA) and its rules notified in 2012.

The Bench of Chief Justice of India and Surya Kant was acting on a PIL filed by NGO Jan Swasthya Abhiyan on the mismanagement of the healthcare facilities in the hospitals and 18 states and Union Territories not yet adopting the law.
