NEW DELHI, March 28 -- The Congress on Saturday shared its concern over the large exodus of people to their hometowns and villages on foot in proximity that may defeat the task of the lockdown to control spread of the coronavirus.

Its spokesman Ajay Maken also backed demand of its Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury to the prime minister to convene a digital meeting of the leaders of various parties to put their minds together for dealing with the crisis since it is not a partisan issue.

Maken asked the government to make use of the Congress leaders' experience in governance to deal with the crisis that came up in the wake of implementing the lockdown.
