JAMMU, Aug. 28 -- While expressing anguish over the loss of lives and property due to flash floods, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Thursday urged the J&K administration to provide adequate compensation to farmers whose crops were damaged due to floods in parts of the Jammu region.

The recent rains and flash floods in parts of Jammu region have damaged the standing crops, and the government must depute teams to assess the losses immediately, he said in a statement, asserting that"the hard toil of farmers stand ruined and they have nothing to look for, except assistance from the Government".
