Srinagar, June 20 -- Mudasir Karim, the Youth President of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC), has strongly urged the government to reconsider the fixed date of July 1st for the commencement of summer vacations in schools across the Valley, citing health concerns for children amid rising temperatures.

In a statement issued today, Mudasir said, "I was surprised to hear a teacher at a leading private school say that 'children from lower classes start getting lethargic in the afternoon.' Do heatwaves come with a schedule? Why are we so fixed on a date when it's clear that the heat is already affecting young students?"
